Named after the Norse God Thor’s legendary hammer, Mjolnir (pronounced myawl-neer) is a new and unique total body conditioning workout that uses only a sledgehammer as the tool of choice. Created by a martial artist, it is the perfect workout for male and female martial artists, athletes, and individuals who just want to get their bodies into shape.

Mjolnir is an excellent way to develop functional and core strength, explosive power, increased cardiovascular endurance, coordination and stamina.

Who can do Mjolnir? Who is it for?

  • Mjolnir was developed with both male and female Martial Artists and Athletes in mind as a powerful supplement to any training and conditioning regimen.
  • It is also perfect for anyone looking for an interesting and unique way to get in shape. No prior training or conditioning is required.

Is there anyone who Mjolnir is not for?

  • Individuals with chronic or severe major joint pain or back pain.
  • It is always a good idea to seek a doctor’s approval before starting any new or more rigorous workout or training than what your body is used to.
  • Just try a class! The class instructor can help you see if Mjolnir is right for you.

Is Mjolnir a martial art?

No. Mjolnir is a non-combat workout regimen that focuses on strength, health and fitness. However, it is the perfect partner for people who are currently training (or have previously) in any martial art, sport or active leisure activity.

Will Mjolnir give me huge, rippling muscles?

You will develop excellent functional strength, burn fat and tone muscle without bulking up. Although, heavier Mjolnir hammers will definitely increase muscle size to a degree. Mjolnir focuses on (relatively) “low weight, high rep” movements that promote endurance, control, stamina and speed. This is excellent for individuals in competitive sports or martial arts.

What do I need to bring to class?

  • Comfortable workout clothes

Is there any additional equipment that I need to buy?
No purchase is necessary until you join the Mjolnir class. Once you have joined:

  • The Official Mjolnir Hammer - Mandatory*
  • Standard Weightlifting gloves - Optional
  • The Official Mjolnir T-shirt - Optional*

Can I use my own sledgehammer from home?

No. Mjolnir participants are required to purchase a Mjolnir approved sledgehammer from The Martial Arts and Fitness Center. Our Mjolnir sledgehammers come in various weights to accommodate your current level.

Who teaches the class and where can I get more info?
